TC2000 vs TradingView for screening and scripting

Choose TC2000 when your main task is building stock and options scans with EasyScan and PCF formulas. Choose TradingView when you need broader market coverage, Pine Script indicators and strategy simulations. Both can evaluate a custom stock rule; matching the data feed and calculation matters more than an unsupported claim that one scanner is faster.

Compare the workflow you need

The useful distinction is how a rule becomes a watchlist, a chart indicator or a trade simulation. The official TC2000 PCF guide, historical-scan documentation and TradingView Pine documentation linked below establish these capabilities.

One daily breakout rule, defined before comparing

This is a reproducible comparison method, not a completed benchmark. Use the same saved list of US stocks and daily bars after the session closes. A stock passes when its close exceeds the highest high of the previous 20 bars, its volume exceeds twice the 50-bar average volume, and its close exceeds the 50-bar simple moving average. Both averages include the current, completed bar. Every comparison is strict greater-than.

ControlKeep it identical
UniverseSave the symbol list and exchange identifiers; exclude instruments unavailable on either platform. Do not substitute a changing index membership list.
Bar definitionUse the same session, date, daily timeframe and price-adjustment policy, with at least 50 valid bars. Wait for daily data to finalize.
Volume definitionUse the specified daily volume average. Relative Volume at Time is a different calculation and is not a substitute.
Result auditRecord pass/fail, close, previous 20-bar high, volume, average volume and SMA for each symbol. Investigate mismatches before timing scans.
Timing, if you test itRecord application version, plan, device, feed, list size and refresh setting. Repeat scans under those same conditions and report all timings, including failures.

Implement the rule in TC2000 PCF

Create a Condition (PCF) Formula, set it to Daily and apply it to the agreed watchlist. C is the close, V is volume, MAXH20.1 uses the previous 20 highs, and AVGV50 and AVGC50 use 50-bar averages. The formula below follows the documented PCF notation, but has not been run in TC2000 for this comparison. Inspect sample symbols in the application before relying on the result.

Daily condition; application execution not testedPCF
C > MAXH20.1 AND V > 2 * AVGV50 AND C > AVGC50

Implement the same rule in TradingView Pine Screener

Save this indicator, add it to favorites, select it in Pine Screener, choose the agreed watchlist and the 1-day timeframe, then filter Pass equal to 1. Run after the daily bar closes; the live bar can change during the session. The Pine source passed a syntax check, but matching results between platforms has not been tested. A chart alert requires creating an alert separately and selecting Once Per Bar Close.

  • Pine Screener accepts one indicator per screen, calculates on the last 500 bars and restricts supported timeframes.
  • It allows at most five separate request.*() calls and does not accept strategy scripts. This example uses no requests.
  • Changing the source, inputs, timeframe or filters requires rescanning. Confirm Pine Screener access in your subscription.
  • A predefined New High or relative-volume filter may use a different period or formula. Do not label it equivalent without checking.

Separate historical scans from strategy backtests

TC2000 documents historical scan results and scan plots, so saying it has no historical testing is misleading. Those tools answer which stocks met a condition at a chosen time. TradingView Strategy Tester uses a strategy script and a broker emulator to simulate orders. To test this breakout as a trading system, first define entries, exits, sizing, commission and slippage; the indicator above does not define them.

  • A scan match is not a filled order. A current watchlist can omit delisted stocks and introduce survivorship bias into historical research.
  • TradingView fills depend on emulator settings and available bars. Inspect trade assumptions and use an out-of-sample period before drawing conclusions.

Compare the data feed before comparing scan results

TradingView documents free real-time US stock data from Cboe, which can differ from primary-exchange data, particularly in volume and less active sessions. TC2000 currently lists Nasdaq Basic as its included US stock feed. These labels do not establish identical coverage. A volume-based rule can return different symbols even when both formulas are correct.

  • Record the actual provider and entitlement for every test. A paid software plan alone does not establish which exchange feed is active.
  • TradingView lists separate primary-exchange subscriptions. TC2000 offers a consolidated-tape add-on. Compare their coverage, not just their names.
  • If feeds cannot be aligned, describe result differences as observed mismatches with unresolved data effects, not proof of a scanner defect.

Choose by the task you can verify

For an EasyScan-centered stock workflow, trial TC2000 with your actual formulas and layout. For multi-market chart research or explicitly modeled strategy orders, test TradingView with your intended feeds and scripts. Using both adds subscription cost and reconciliation work; there is no evidence here that two subscriptions produce better trading results.

  • TC2000 notes that some streaming scans run on its servers. A native desktop interface does not prove calculations are local or faster.
  • Test your Mac or browser connection before committing: TC2000 streams its Windows experience there. Do not assume it requires local virtualization.
  • Keep an export or written record of your rules, symbol list, data settings and results so the comparison can be repeated.
Where Pineify fits

Pineify Market Screener

Compare supported symbols and technical indicator snapshots in a visual table. Check its available fields, timeframes and refresh behavior against your screening task before treating it as a replacement for EasyScan.

Also useful: Visual Pine Script Editor. Build supported indicator and strategy logic visually, then inspect the generated Pine Script in TradingView. It does not convert a TC2000 subscription or data entitlement.
